Delve into the life and mission of this passionate gospel artist, dedicated to spreading the message of Christ through uplifting music.

Biography

Born Hubert Varlet Nwolley, Navah is a contemporary Ghanaian gospel artiste, whose musical style bridges the generic Ghanaian gospel and the emerging contemporary forms of gospel music. He was raised in Abidjan in Cote D’Ivoire and Takoradi in the Western Region of Ghana. The largeness of his family and the variety of cultures he was exposed to in these two locations did influence him to have a vast perspective of the art and to explore more. Music was a dominant part of his upbringing, as his mother was a church singer. Thus, he was exposed to the art very early and began singing at age 5. His family gave him enough agency to explore his talent through practice, performances at singing contests and in church. He also learned to play various instruments. All these prepared his skill for the call of God to pursue the preaching of the gospel through music.

His focus as a minister of God has been to lift the banner of Christ. Thus, his return to Takoradi, Ghana, kickstarted his gospel music career, where he released his first album in 2014 dubbed Back to You. He also put together a worship concert – which was a rare event in Takoradi at the time – to crown the release. Thence, his music journey took off, expanding to other territories. As a student of the University of Cape Coast between 2014 and 2018, he made impact in the community through his music. He served as musical director for the school’s Mass Choir. He also recorded and released My All – an EP – in Cape Coast. He also hosted the Here I Am Worship Concert in Takoradi and in Cape Coast in 2018 and 2019 respectively. He released the Here I Am album in 2019. Subsequently, he emigrated to France but kept up with his career. He released the Greater Love album in 2021 and hosted the Greater Love Concert in the same year. Being multilingual because of his upbringing and journey, his songs vary in languages. He has produced music in French, Twi, Fante, Nzema, and English.

Navah has worked with many gospel musicians and music ministries. He has worked with Ghana’s gospel music legends, Elder Mireku and Rev. Mrs. Amy Newman. He has also worked with Pastor Joe Beecham, Joe Mettle, KODA, Obaapa Christy, Francis Amo, and Pastor Isaiah Fosu-Kwakye. He has a number of collaborations with young Ghanaian ministers like JOA, Raphiya, Philip Adzale, Nana Amoah, Yaw Boadu Jnr., Omari Kissi Jnr., Adlaide, Felicia Sarfo, and Vivi Adjei. He has served as the musical director of the University of Cape Coast Mass Choir and the choir of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC), Takoradi.

Navah has also won multiple awards. Prominent amongst these awards is the Western Music Awards Artiste of the Year in 2021 and Urban Gospel Song of the Year 2021 with ‘After You Na You,’ a single. His most recent concert, Greater Love II held in Takoradi, brought together about 3,000 patrons to worship the Lord.

Navah continues to be a passionate servant of the Lord, seeking daily to raise the banner of Christ Jesus by empowering the saints with music for praise, for worship and reaching souls with the message of Christ Jesus.
